the perks of being a wallflower
i was not really planning on reading this book. but as i was waiting for the movie i am supposed to be watching to load yesterday which is the last song that you could actually watch here.. i decided to read a book.
the book is called The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I discovered it through Logan Lerman whose rumored to be doing a movie of it. So I decided to check it out. i read it yesterday and just finished it today and decided to share it with you.
i admit i never expected it to be anything like what it really was. i assumed it was just one of those teenager books wherein they deal a lot of teenage dilemmas in life. and it is.. but its more than that. its the kind of book i never encounter before.
it tells us to "participate" in life.. that being here is never enough, that sometimes we have to "participate" in it. to never stop living even if you had it all worst already.
The Perks of being a Wallflower is written in form of a diary-letter that was from the main character and being sent to an anonymous person which i will assume us.. the readers. it is about a 15 year old weird and friendless guy named Charlie and his experience in his first year in high school... wherein he experience growing up and getting exposed to friendship, first love, family, drugs, sex, sexuality, abuse, teenage pregnancy, suicide.
and in this book you'd notice how odd Charlie is... and might even say he has "mental problems", but at the end of the book you will find out why he's like that.
personally, i would not really recommend it to young teenagers. but if you are open minded like me (ehem). it is a really really great book to read. though i understand why university libraries banned it.. it just really have inappropriate scenes.. that i dont actually find very much disturbing, but yes its one of those controversial books.
it made me laugh, cry and even shocked about its revelation in the ending. and i personally give it 3 thumbs up. (if thats even possible. haha)
hope you'll learn something from it an love it as much as i did!
PS. about my previous post.. nah. im not being emotional. haha. those were just things that's bothering my mind since im all bored like that. haha. that is all. i havent lose a friend or anyone.. im just speaking my mind loudly. haha.
